Random Cute Pics

This is what I found when I got home from work on Friday:
Just plain cute. Last night Jon had to adjust Harper's car seat to the next level up for her safety belts. Our little girl is getting bigger!
Notice the foot. This is what Harper did while I finished her dots.
Jon actually printed these off. They're a list of the top Universities with Women's Golf, and they're categorized by golf, academics and a balance of the two. I think he was inspired by Tiger at the Open this year and is hoping Harper will be too.

The Dot's got dots!

Finally - here's the finished product of my first Saturday project. I really did finish it on Sunday - I promise. I'm just now getting a chance to show the pics. Life with a baby is CRAZY!

Here are the 3 things I used to help make the circles circular. :) Although they served to be more of a guide since the walls were bumpy. I had to mostly freehand them. Jon was pretty impressed that I was so inventive. And I think he was rather shocked that I started the project without telling him!

All in all, I think it turned out nicely. It's still a little shocking at first when I walk in, but it's growing on me. I've always thought the room needed something "more" and we tossed around the idea of adding wainscotting around the bottom with a chair rail or maybe painting pink stripes. Polka dots were the easiest and quickest solution - and it's perfect for our little Dot!

I'm posting some other pics of her nursery for those who haven't been able to see it in person, which is most of you. It really looks nothing like I envisioned, but I think I made the most of the mish-mash colors, furniture and bedding! These pics were taken before I put the dots on the wall, obviously.

Changing table and ladybug curtains.

Shelves, glider and pics.

Closet door, dresser and bedroom door.

On one of the shelves: Dana gave me the Paris tea set a while back. Little did she know how perfect it would be for my little girl's room someday! The pink poodle is from Jay and Linda and just looked too cute with the tea set.

The top frame says "The moment we saw you, we fell in love". The bottom frame says mom + dad = me and was given to us by my sister when we first found out we were pregnant.

Saturday Project #1

Harper and I have had a great Saturday together. She slept a little roughly, which meant I did too. But she also slept in so I got a few more hours than I had planned on and I didn't have red eyes today!! yippee!!

We took a walk this morning and she promptly fell asleep as she likes to do in the stroller. After she had a nap and I had a shower, we went to Lowe's to return/exchange a few of the things I got for Jon and his grill. While we were there I picked out some pink paint for Harper's room and thus have begun my tradition of "Project Saturday". I figured while Jon's at work every weekend, I'm going to give myself something to work on. That is, as long as Harper will allow me to. Today she was GREAT and played by herself on the floor while I talked and sang to her. It's not quite done yet and I'll post pictures to show the final result.

We've just cooked dinner together and are waiting for Jon to get home. Then it's a bath, dinner for her and off to bed for hopefully a good night's sleep! I couldn't ask for anything more than to spend our Saturday just the way we have.

Harper says Vegas, Baby!

She's ready to try her luck and take a chance in Sin City!!!

haha, well sorta. She's definitely ready to meet Poppi and see Mimi again, which means we're taking a trip!!! Jon and I thought long and hard about what we wanted to do with our stimulus check, and we both agreed that getting to see my family is something we really need to do. AND, I've booked the trip to happen during my birthday - the big 3-0!!!

We'll be driving to Cali in the middle of our trip, so all you Californians that check us out regularly - Harper's coming to meet you!

Exactly 4 months from today. Can't wait can't wait!

Happy Father's Day!

Here's some pics from Jon's first Father's Day. He got a new grill from his parents and Harper got him all the accessories to go with it. He absolutely loves it and I'm thrilled too! Grilled veggies - yum!

Smilin' Girl

I do believe we've got ourselves an official smiler. And today she actually laughed!!! She had just gotten done eating, and I reclined to give her some tummy time on my tummy. She propped herself up on her elbows and her face was right in front of mine. I said "what are you doing???" And she got a big grin and a little inhaling laugh that kind squeaked. ahhhhhh.... Love it!!!

Lazy Dayz

I couldn't wait for today to get here. Every day this week when I've gotten home from work, all I've wanted to do was hold and kiss Harper all over. Yesterday was the hardest yet - it felt like a long week and I couldn't wait to get home to hang out. I felt like I missed so much this week!

Harper is starting to "smile" a bit more now. She kind of gets this goofy look on her face when we're playing and Jon says that if I relax my definition of smile, then she's doing it. I'll have to take a picture to show you what I'm talking about. She has given me one or two real smiles which of course just melt my heart. She just started blowing bubbles and is having more awake time now which is fun.

Although this is what she's doing right now, which is allowing me to post!

This morning I was able to sort through some of her drawers and her closet to see what other things might be fitting her now. Still in a really solid "newborn" size which is fine by me - there's lots of things I can't wait to see her in! Maybe later today we'll have a fashion show, although she usually hates having her clothes changed. 0-3 is usually too big on her for the most part, but we're getting there. She did officially move into a size 1 diaper!!! Big step! And we had to learn the hard way that she's a Pampers-only kinda girl. I tried to use some of the other Size 1 diapers we've had on hand that have been given to us, and after only 2 days she ended up with a wicked diaper rash. Poor girl. This has happened to her both times I've tried to use a different brand of diapers. So Jon has declared that her tush will only be put in Pampers from now on. We've been having to do naked tummy time again all week in order to get it to heal, and now it's almost all gone.

Well, it's almost feeding time, then it's off to go get Jon's Father's Day gift!! He knows what he's getting, so it's no surprise. But I'll post the pictures tomorrow to show everyone else.

Reality

So I know my little girl is growing - which I'm thrilled about. But it's hitting me because now she's really growing out of all her first clothes! It's heartbreaking but also so exciting. Now she can finally start wearing all of the clothes I've been waiting to put her in for so long. But it still makes me sad - time is already flying by.

Here's a few of the clothes she'll never fit into again.

Seriously Lagging

So going back to work has oddly sapped TONS of my time - go figure!!! I've also really lagged behind in taking pictures. I absolutely cannot fall behind in this department because I know she's going to grow so quickly!

Getting back to work has gone more smoothly than I thought it would. It's taken some adjusting for all of us. For me, getting out the door is a much different process than it used to be. But I've actually been getting to work earlier than I ever did before! For Jon, he's trying to get used to being Stay at Home Dad 3 days a week. He's doing a great job - and realizing it's more work than he initially thought! Jane and Don enjoyed their first week of watching Harper for their two days. She definitely broke them in well!

Next post will be more fun and will include PICTURES! Promise, promise.

Lotsa Shots!

Harper had her 2-month check up today and her Doc is extremely pleased with how she's growing. Drumroll please..... here's her stats:

9lbs 12oz
21 3/4 inches

!!!!!!

She's in the 25th percentile for her weight! She's basically gained 2 pounds in 3 weeks and will probably double her birth weight by next week. Woohoo!!!

On the downside, she did have to get ALLLL of her shots today and she of course has been fussy and fever-ish for the afternoon - even getting sick all over Daddy. He handled it very well. I couldn't wait to get home and give her lots of kisses and lovin'!!
