April 2012

April was full of so much fun stuff for the family.  Here is a recap of all our adventures!

We got to go to Six Flags for my company picnic again this year.  This is our 3rd time going, and we felt a little more like pros this time since we knew where to go and what we wanted to do.  Plus it wasn't nearly as hot as it had been last year when we went!  We had a fantastic time, though we knew it was time to go when Jasper had a major breakdown after he missed his nap time.

The carousel is right near the entrance of the park, so it's always the first place we stop.  The kids love it.

And of course the swings!

Cool Dude.

We hit the game area and it took us two tries, but Daddy finally won Harper the Hello Kitty she wanted by winning the water gun game.  As for Jasper, he won the Batman all on his own.  He was throwing darts at balloons and we kept handing them to him so he could throw it with his right hand.  After about 10 tries, he grabbed a dart, then switched it to his left hand.  He popped it on the first try!!!

Taking a break and cooling off by taking a train ride around the park.

He fell asleep on the walk out of the park. Tired boy!

Here they are both passed out.  I love this picture because they are both clutching the prized they won.

Here is Daddy having some fun with Play-Doh.

And with added eyeballs.

Here is Harper on the morning of her 4th birthday!!!!!

Here she is in her outfit she picked out to wear on her birthday. Jasper wanted to be in the picture too.

We took cupcakes to her at school so she could celebrate with her friends there.

We went to Red Robin for dinner.  I lover his picture of them!

Enjoying her birthday sundae.

Showing off one of her cards while opening presents.

Silly girl!

Trying out a new facial - cake frosting.

Jasper wearing his sister's headband.

Harper had been asking for a haircut for a long time, so I finally took her to the kid-friendly salon.  She loved every second of it!

The stylist gave her glitter hearts on both cheeks.

Dyeing Easter Eggs!

Holding up the egg with her name on it.

Easter morning.  Our dapper little guy.

Sweet girl at the Butterfly exhibit at the Botanical Gardens.

We finally got some good family pictures!

After nap time, we had an Easter egg hunt in the backyard.

Harper doing what big sisters are supposed to do - put pretend makeup on their brothers.

And Jasper doing what little brothers are supposed to do - sit on their big sisters.

Harper and Jasper were playing "Naptime".  It's hard to tell here, but he was jammed into this weird corner and totally piled up with blankets.

We went to Nash Farm for their spring event.  Here they are making friends with some cows.

Driving the tractor!!

Jasper took his first pony ride. He laughed the whole time!

Petting zoo!

Jasper was completely enthralled with the horse drawn plow.  He knelt down like this and watched it for a while till the ground.

Tired on the drive home, hanging on tightly to the plane Nana got him.

March 2012

March was full of so much fun stuff!!! We celebrated Jasper's birthday, Mimi came to visit and we had the combined birthday party for both kids.  I will be doing a separate post about Mimi's visit and the birthday party.  Here is the rest!

Harper started the month out being sick.  She got strep throat, which we had managed to avoid thus far.  Thankfully we caught it really early and by the next morning she was no longer contagious and was back to her normal self.  Overall, for us, it was a relatively "easy" illness!

We got the kids a picnic table. Here they are testing it out in the front yard while eating a snack.

And of course they had to play with the box!

Later that afternoon the kids pitched in and helped me wash both cars.  What car wash would be complete without getting the kids totally soaked?

Jasper's birthday was a fun day for him.  It was a weekday, so we brought cupcakes to him at school.  We woke him up with the birthday song just like we always do with the kids.  Here is his with his birthday breakfast and his crown.

Mommy got a picture with the birthday boy.

All of his friends loved the cupcakes.

I had my heart on taking him somewhere for dinner where they would sing to him so we went to TGI Friday's.  I was crushed when they simply set his birthday dessert down in front of him and walked away!!!  Oh well, it was a fun meal anyway, and we all got to enjoy a yummy dessert.

I absolutely love this picture of him!!!  I had found this little tiger costume on clearance after Halloween and had hung on to it.  Little did I know he would get this excited about it!!!

Posing with his new football and tiger mask.

We got him a bubble machine, so here they are loving all the bubbles in the living room.

Following the birthday, we had a lot of fun for the rest of the month.  Here are the kids doing what they love -- playing with Daddy!

Daddy installed flower boxes on to the play set for Harper.  The flowers didn't survive too long this year, but they were fun while they lasted!!!

I made several practice cakes in preparation for the birthday party.  The kids enjoyed tasting the fruits of my labor.

Keller held an Easter egg hunt on the weekend before Easter.  Jon had to work overtime, so I went by myself with the kids.  They had different areas for each age group, and even though Harper was only days away from her 4th birthday, it was so much easier to enjoy her being 3 so they could both be in 2 & 3 year old area. :)  It was pure chaos once the kids were let loose, and I was so glad to have friends there to help me keep tabs on Harper.  She took off into the crowd, and I was too busy trying to prevent Jasper from being trampled to notice where exactly she was.  Thankfully she stayed close to her friend Addison and her mom Ashley and Ashley brought her back to me once they had gotten a few eggs.  whew!  It was a pretty scary minute or so until I could find her again!

They each got a few little prizes, and had fun playing with their new friends afterwards too.
