Happy Meal

Harper had the pleasure of enjoying her first McDonald's Happy Meal this past Sunday. I'm not proud of this fact, but I am happy that she enjoyed it. I was really not feeling well so Harper and I left church after first service. I had no desire to prepare any sort of lunch, so McDonald's it was.

I must say that I at least heated up some mixed veggies to put on her plate. And my little girl made me so proud when she ate up all her veggies and left about half the fries I put on her plate.

Looking inside for more!

One note I have filed away for future reference is that you can request toys for children under 3 years old. Which makes much more sense than the Barbie bracelets Harper got.

Father's Day

We had dinner with our friends Wes, Jessica and Amelia on Saturday night. We had been planning this for Father's Day and we were finally able to make it happen. We went to a fancy schmancy steakhouse on the West End of Downtown Dallas and had a great time. The food was great. Jessica found a great deal online for a $50 gift certificate you could purchase for $25. We split the cost of that and enjoyed a great night!

Here are the girls socializing outside of the restaurant, talking girl talk. (Notice Harper's cute shoes. A gift from Mimi at my baby shower. Love them!)

Harper being silly.

Playing Peek a Boo with her cup and the tablecloth.

Teaching Mia how to high five.

Visitors

A few weeks ago the Hanes Fam had some visitors: The Weaver Clan!

Dylan and Stephanie decided to make a trek to Texas to come visit us and our humble little city. We had a great weekend and did some new things and some regular day-to-day things too. It was such fun and the two kiddos had a great time together. These two were actually due on the same day, May 8th. I met Stephanie on babycenter.com via the First Time Mommies May 2008 baby board. We immediately bonded and have grown closer as time has gone on. She's a fantastic friend and a wonderful spiritual encouragement. I wish we lived closer to each other, but they call Tennessee home.

Here they are in the bath together. Yes, Dylan has a ton of hair. Yes, Harper seemed amazed by it.

Hugs a plenty!

Fun at the zoo.

Harper was a kissing fiend at first, which is why we switched to hugging.

Though Stephanie enjoyed Wylee's abundant kisses.

The four of us.

Exhausted kids on the way to the airport to drop our friends off.

Here's a video of how well they played together. :)

Poor Bunny

Harper got this bunny in her Easter basket from Nana and Papa. She only recently became attached to it, wanting to carry it all around with her. Well, someone else wanted to lay claim to the bunny apparently. I went outside the other night to find this:

The bunny hasn't been torn apart or even chewed on really. But it's safe to say that Harper will no longer have her bunny to carry around.

17 months and 12 weeks

It's been so long since I've done a proper update. I've had the best of intentions, but of course things haven't worked out as I have hoped and I usually choose to do housework or go to sleep verrrry early these nights. But here's a quick rundown.

Harper is now 17 months old and such a very good girl. Honestly, we have no idea how we could have been blessed with such a great, wonderful, sweet, silly and hysterical little girl. She amazes us each and every day. She loves to give hugs and kisses, especially to her big pink teddy bear that Poppy got her for Christmas. She waves hi to everyone she sees, and usually ends up asking them for a kiss after about 5 minutes of talking. Ummm, that behavior we're gonna have to work on! She knows many animal sounds and is saying more and more words now. Her latest word she perfected was "baby" which seems very fitting!
We had some friends in town and went to the zoo for the first time!! A better post about that to come. Here's Harper with a zebra.

I'm planning on detailing more of what she's up to in the future, including a big 18 month birthday post.

As for the other baby, we're doing good! I'm now 12 weeks along, which, depending on which doctor you talk to means I'm either in my last week of my first trimester or the first week of my second. I had about 3 weeks of nausea and many weeks of just feeling blah. Hopefully most of the tough part is over now. We're very much looking forward to this baby and really praying for a full term pregnancy this time! My doctor will be monitoring me closely, especially in the third trimester, to make sure my fluid stays at an acceptable level. As of now, he doesn't feel the need for any precautionary measures to be taken. He feels my blood pressure is at an acceptable level and would like me to continue to get moderate exercise like walking so that's what I've been doing. Here is Harper ready to go on one of our long Saturday morning walks.

We've been trying to tell Harper that the baby is in Mommy's tummy but of course that completely confuses her because she thinks the baby lives on the pampers wipes container or in her book. But we're working on it!

More updates soon, I promise!
