365 pictures... or maybe not

I was going to attempt to do the 365 picture blog after realizing what a great scrapbook it would be to look back on. I decided on Monday I would start it, and just use what pictures I had taken the first 10 days of the year and pick up from there. Well it's only Tuesday and I've already forgotten to take a picture today. Sooooo... maybe I won't do the 365 pictures after all. ;)

Here are the pictures I was going to post as of Monday. You never know, maybe I will start on Wednesday!

I was folding laundry in Harper's room after work and Harper wanted to wear her cowboy (farmer) \hat and ride her horse. She was rocking back and forth, whoopin' and hollerin' "yeeeeeeeeHAW!!" and Jasper was absolutely fascinated. I brought his horse in the room and plopped him down. He continued to stare at Harper, and then would look down at his hands and shake back and forth really fast in an attempt to rock like she was, then stare back up at her. It was quite adorable.

I was finally able to braid Harper's hair for the first time today. She has had quite the mullet for a long time, and the top and sides of her hair are FINALLY growing out, which means I can get a nice braid going on the sides. She's been wearing little ponytails on the sides of her head for a long time because it's the only thing I could do. Well, I think she's finally ready for a real haircut to get those stringy ends clipped off. She hasn't had a haircut since October 2009 when Auntie Wendy trimmed the back to even it out.

It snowed a decent amount on Sunday and we spent the entire day in our pajamas relaxing around the house enjoying the fire and watching the huge snowflakes fall. It was wonderful! Harper had been playing in her room, and we opened the blinds at about noon right when it started snowing so we could see it. She walked out into the hallway and gasped and pointed, completely speechless at seeing the snow falling. It was so cute and it gave us a good laugh. Here she is looking out the back door at the snow. I had my hooded sweatshirt on and Jon came out from the bedroom with his on. Harper then declared she wanted her "jacket" on too, which we obliged.

Later that day, I decided a fun snow day activity would be to play beauty shop and paint Harper's nails for the first time. She was thrilled and was such a good girl, sitting so still while I painted, you would have thought she did this every week! Once I was done with her nails, she then said "Mommy's turn!". I told her Mommy didn't need her nails painted, but she insisted. I haven't painted my own nails or worn nail polish for an embarassingly long time. It's still on and so weird every time I see it!

We absolutely looooooove Sundays and Mondays when Daddy is home for the evenings because it means he gets to eat dinner with us and - the best part - he is home for baths! Daddy is notorious for being a much more fun bath-giver than boring old Mommy. He makes lots and lots of bubbles and plays silly games. Mommy is much more all business since Tuesday through Saturday I have dinner, baths, nursing, cuddles and bedtime with two kids by myself.
